Many first-time buyers find it hard to get on the housing ladder, especially if they live in London. Northampton as an area offers great value for properties and only a quick hop on the train to the city.
Now, after the effects of the Covid lockdown. Many people or companies find themselves able to work from home. We have seen a large surge of people heading down to Devon and Cornwall, but I wonder long-term whether this is sustainable for these remote areas.
However, Northamptonshire has the best of both worlds. We have some of the finest countryside in both the North and South and are perfectly placed with a network of motorways and trains to get to anywhere in the country with ease.
It’s really hard for first-time buyers to save a large deposit, especially when having to cover the cost of rent, electricity and food etc. At the weekend, I came across this article and was in awe of what this young couple managed to do to an old, dilapidated building with the help of their parents.
The Project
23-year-old couple Caroline Bettles and Bruce Dalton couldn’t afford to buy a ready-to-go house but came up with an idea to buy a rundown brick shed (with the help of their parents) in Earl’s Barton, Northamptonshire. Caroline’s father was a builder and provided great support for the couple. Just take a look at what they managed to do!
If you are inspired by this project and have found a property that needs to be converted, give us a call, we would love to help!
